Committed to delivering exceptional value and trusted advice since 2006
My favorite quote is from Calvin Coolidge: “Prosperity is only an instrument to be used, not a Deity to be worshipped.”
If I could have any superpower, it would be wisdom.
What warms my heart most is watching my wife, kids, and grandkids succeed.
I don’t enjoy talking about myself — I’d rather talk about ideas.
C. Richard Hopkins, MD, CRPC®
Financial Planner
I’ve always been drawn to teaching and helping others understand complex ideas. Whether I’m explaining anatomy to medical students or walking clients through financial strategies, my goal is to break down difficult concepts into something clear and practical. I’ve found that when people truly understand their finances and how to “manage” money, they feel more confident and empowered to reach their goals.
I’m a physician by training, with degrees from Brigham Young University, Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, and the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Over time, my interest in investing and retirement planning grew into a second career focused on education and long-term financial wellness. I hold the NASAA Series 65 license and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ designation from the College for Financial Planning in Colorado, along with more than 35 years of small business ownership, negotiating, and investing experience.
Nearly 30 years ago, I began investing with Marty Watkins and was drawn to TrueNorth Wealth’s commission-free, low-cost, and academically driven approach. I joined the TrueNorth team in 2017, opening the Logan office and working with clients to simplify investing, retirement, and tax planning. My goal is always to provide honest, straightforward advice and to help clients make informed decisions that support the lives they want to live.
Outside of work, I love mountain biking, skiing, and traveling with my wife and our four children. For 15 years, I coached the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams at Logan High School, where we trained over 20 region and 10 state champions. Our family’s favorite adventures have been traveling on charity medical missions to Peru, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic to help people in need. I also continue to teach medical anatomy, radiology, and finance courses — and I’m happiest when I’m learning or sharing knowledge with others.
